In 2025, a Dynamic Positioning System incorporated an autonomous function (berthing and unberthing etc.) on a training ship for a maritime college. Demonstration trials were conducted, and the vessel was delivered to the shipowner. The Dynamic Positioning System has functions which enable remote monitoring and manoeuvring. The Toba-Maru is expected to contribute to education related to the systematization of ship manoeuvring control in future maritime training. Furthermore, as autonomous functions continue to be developed and put into practical use, there are plans to add new functions and provide updates on an ongoing basis.
