This presentation will detail the recent results the UK Government’s Clean Maritime Demonstrator Competition (CMDC). ELIRE Maritime led a high-calibre consortium including inter-alia: Ricardo, Rux Energy, Schneider Electric and the University of Strathclyde to deliver a 5MW grid-independent clean energy-to-power solution for cruise vessel connection. This is not just an innovation, it’s a step-change in how ports can decarbonise today. Designed as a maritime-based, grid-independent energy system, this Hydrogen Power Hub enables vessels to switch off engines at berth (cold ironing) without relying on constrained or delayed shoreside grid upgrades.
