Electrification and Hybridization
Day 3 Room 1 Electrification and Hybridization
Space on board vessels is at a premium. Despite the significant benefits of full electric or hybrid ship architectures for efficiency, and as enablers for energy-intensive mission effects, these systems still occupy significant space on the vessel. This presentation will describe how to configure the architecture of an innovative highly redundant, resilient, easily reconfigurable and extremely compact ship’s electric grid consisting of active stator electrical rotating machines with individual phases controlled by separate power electronics and with no AC waveforms, no PWM switching, no high-frequency noise or machines dv/dt insulation stress.
