This presentation will provide attendees with operational guidance of how to respond to and manage Lithium-Ion Battery Fires on Board Ships. The presenter, Kurt Tofte Rusås, is firefighter in the Bergen Fire Department and a trainer with Ocomp providing training in the offshore industry. Kurt combines operational experience with a strong technical background as a qualified electrical engineer and he has taken a leading role in the development of battery safety training programs for the maritime sector, with particular focus on the risks associated with lithium-ion battery systems. His work bridges practical emergency response, engineering expertise, and training development, contributing to improved safety awareness and preparedness within maritime and industrial operations.
