Making shore power work at scale in the Port of Rotterdam

16 Jun 2026
Ports and Infrastructure
Day 1 Room 3 Ports & Infrastructure
This presentation brings a rare, highly relevant 'from contracts to operations' story. It reviews what is expected to be the world’s largest shore power project. Partnering with ABB Rotterdam Shore Power (RSP) will deliver a combined capacity of over 100 MVA across three deep-sea container terminals in the Port of Rotterdam. This presentation will showcase its approach and operational model for making shore power work at scale – reliability, standardization and cost control – while also sharing how it is already shaping the next phase: expanding into liquid bulk/tankers, where technical and commercial innovation are needed to unlock adoption at scale and accelerate maritime electrification beyond the 'extension cord' narrative.
