This presentation examines how the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) can enable large‑scale electrification of vessels and ports, meeting the need for high‑power charging in maritime operations. It highlights the ongoing work of the CharIN Marine Working Group, including a white paper under development that addresses interoperable charging interfaces, port infrastructure requirements and vessel integration concepts. The talk also considers maritime‑specific constraints such as environmental exposure, safety and operational reliability, and places strong emphasis on the role of classification societies. Aligning standards, certification and implementation early is presented as a key enabler for accelerating zero‑emission maritime transportation across global ports and fleets.
