Maartje's research focuses on efficient planning for inland waterway container transportation, with particular attention to operational efficiency, reliability and environmental sustainability. She recently completed her MSc in mechanical engineering at Delft University of Technology, specializing in multimachine engineering. Her work is connected to the Port of Rotterdam and the European MAGPIE project, exploring how coordinated and autonomous barge transportation can support more efficient and sustainable port operations.
